Local 51… March 2001 Meeting…Fort Schuyler Post #1290

Meeting came to order at 8:00pm…Sal asked for a moment of silence for Jennifer Spiwak…All officers were present…17 members were in attendance…there were 3 applications for new membership…min. of the Dec. meeting were read and accepted…

Pres. Report…Sal informed us that our showing for the Millinium membership drive was excellent…we had as many new members as some of the big locals and retained more than most…New Ins. Group approved the AFM…Sal read some of the basics & if anyone is interested, Dan can make copies of the flier with all the info for them…he read an update of the USO schedule…and suggested that Paul Spiwak take over as shop steward…the body approved and Paul accepted.

V. P. report…Joe thanked everyone who sent cards, called and visited while he was recouperating…

Sec./Treas. Report…New members: Norman Semenaro, Taras Bohach and Yevgin Matskiv.

Resigned in good standing: Evelyn Bardrof, John Flavor, Fran Rodio, Colleen O’Neil, Arden Sharpe, Frank Talarico, Stephanie Zito & Betty Lou Frye…Suspended: Bonnie Sanderson, Peter Locaccio, Tina Costanza, Debra and Pedro Gallardo, Thomas Sanchez, Patience & Karney Seymour, Donald Wilson and Eldridge Parrish…Scholarships: we are sending 4 apps to NY for approval…will have names & results at the April Mtg…We are looking into our own Web site…if its not too costly & we get some bands to help defray the cost, we will be able to do it…Also looking into a CD burner…more on these subjects later…

Old Business…nothing.

New Business…Spring Dance to benefit Op. Sun…Date – May 12 or 19…place – Roselawn, Hotel Utica or Alfredo’s…no advance tickets …$5.00 at door…Local 51 Big Band directed by Sal Alberico…Heartbeat Duo to play between sets…Peter & Cynthia Obernesser…Peter also offered to set up sound & lights…up to date report at the Apr. mtg…Summer Outing…It was agreed that we have it at the St. Francis park in Frankfort again in Aug…Dan Will supply the food…more later…Sal will be attending the NYS conference (of which he is V.P.) in Schenectady on Mar.22 thru 25…and will have a report at the Apr. mtg…

Good of the order…Joe Yozzo asked that everyone support our fund raisers and try to help out a little…Paul Spiwak has access to some comp. Tickets for the USO concerts for anyone interested…Steve Bruzinski & his partner will give us free publicity for our events.
