Local 51…May Meeting…Fort Schuyler Post #1290

 

Meeting came to order at 8:00pm…All officers were present…15 members were in attendance…no applications for new membership… Minutes of the April meeting were read and accepted.

 

Pres. Report: MPTF allocation in NY state for 2001 is 600,000.00…They will pay 50 % for educational projects…a long discussion followed…We will not be represented at the Convention this year…Sal read a breakdown of travel expenses, per diem etc…for delegates and doesn’t feel that its worth it…Things seem to be cut & dried & we’ll get the results shortly after…This seems to be the worst year for live music all over…long discussion followed…

Vice Pres. Report:  Nothing to report at this time.

Sec./Treas. Report: Floyd Community Band is looking for musicians…Dan passed out fliers for anyone interested…Attended the USO concert Apr. 28 and it was excellent…the USO needs support…only about 1000 people there…Thru the efforts of our local, we were able to get 3 scholarships in the am’t of $500.00 each for Rich Galime, Proctor…Sara Riemersma and Matthew Gifford, Whitesboro…from MPTF…A friend’s daughter is a DJ and has already booked 30 weddings this year…Dan had Posters for the Spring Dance available for anyone who had places to put them…Our own Web page is almost ready…Eddie Skutnik showed interested in having his duo listed with pictures etc..We’ll know the exact cost by the next meeting. All members and bands are welcome to participate…

Old Business: Spring Dance…Eddie Skutniks’ Duo “Double Take “ will play during breaks if Peter Obernesser can’t make it…

New Business: Paul Spiwak offered free tickets for all of next year for USO concerts…He is also running the Tour de Cure for Jennifer…all donations are appreciated…It was suggested that our fall Dance benefit the Diabetes Assoc. in honor Jennifer…
