Local 51…April meeting…Fort Schuyler Post #1290

 

Meeting came to order at 8:00pm…All officers were present except Mike Ciola…11 members were in attendance…no applications for new membership…Min. of the March meeting were read and accepted…

Paul Spiwak passed out the summer schedule for the USO along with the bal. Of 2001…he also offererd to send comp. Tickets for the next 2 concerts to anyone who would like them…Paul said that the USO Board wants someone to represent the musicians at meetings…they are 60k in the red and want to extend the contract for one more year…They are having the same amount of concerts this yr. With the exception of 1 Family concert.

 

Pres. Report: Sal gave a report on the NYS conference…Schenectady Symphony has no bargaining agreement…They are playing for very little …Pres. Is trying to unionize…Many locals are behind in per capata…The Fed.will be sending auditors to check on locals…Fed. Will be negotiating this yr. With the Recording Ind. For MPTF funding…They have a surplus of $800,000.00 from last yr. a long discussion on MPTF followed…There will be a per cap. increase of $.50 per member to help the I.M… An E.O.M. printing is an option.

Sec./Treas. Report: Chris Jevens And Mike Grimaldi have been re-instated…Richard Flagg, from the Watertown area died in March…We can have our own Web Page at a cost of approx. $100.00 per yr…approved by the body…Key words to be Live Music & Central NY…We have applied for 4 scholarships to MPTF…Proctor 1, New Hart.1 and Whitesboro 2…. Results at May meeting.

Spring Dance will be at Alfredo’s Ballroom on May 11…$5.00 at door…cash bar & finger food menu…

Old Bus…Dan Evans asked about Liability Ins…brief discussion followed.

New Bus. Paul Spiwak will be running in the Tour De Cure for diabetes and asked for sponsers…some members donated to the cause in honor of Jennifer…
