Local 51…June Meeting…Fort Schuyler Post #1290
Meeting came to order at 8:00pm…All officers were present…16 members were in attendance…There were no applications for new membership…minutes of the May meeting were read and accepted.

Report: Local
51 will not be represented at the convention this year due to a number of
reasons…one of them being that the Local can’t afford it…Letters have been
coming in from those running for offices asking for support…one from Mark
Jones, pres. of the Buffalo Local, who is running for the E. B…Tommy Lee is
running for Pres…AFM is encouraging Locals to join Labor Unions.

Sec.
– Treas. Report: Chicago local 10-208 has a book
promoting live music and marketing their bands, we should think about something
like that…memo from MPTF asking us to make an effort towards education but
don’t forget the Nurshing Homes…Last year over 40% of allocations was spent on
education and very little on N.H…Letter from Sue Smith of the USO thanking us
for our donation of $100.00…A check in the am’t of $650.00 was sent to
Operation Sunshine thru the efforts of our Spring Dance…all but 2 musicians
donated their time & talent for the cause…Summer Outing will be held on
Aug. 26th at the St. Francis Club in Frankfort…Web page is just
about ready…Each band will have a separate page with Name, Phone, Fax, E-Mail
and style of music…cost will be about $50.00 per year.

Buzinski talked about new sponsers for N.H. projects…a long discussion
followed.
Details
about the Summer Outing will be in the next Newsletter…A benefit for the
Diabetes Association in the fall was talked about…more at our Sept. meeting.
